January 1, 2012

Hello All,

Happy New Year!!  I hope everyone had a great holiday.  We plan to offer training courses in 2012 similar to what we did last year.   Last year’s classes went extremely well and I’d like to thank everyone who came out and participated.  Here is the Training Schedule for 2012.  Again, the classes are 4 hour modules so; taking the same class multiple times is expected, as its unlikely one can master the skills presented in such a short time.  See ‘Handgun Training Page’ for details.

It’s been said before, but is worth repeating; “owning a gun makes you no more capable of defending yourself than owning a piano makes you a musician”.  Any skill worth possessing requires training and diligent practice.

Class sizes are limited and preregistering is required.  Class rosters will be confirmed by email.  Below are the Training Application and Release forms.  Please print them and email them to me or bring them to the class.  Email c.hetisimer@hhrp.org with the class you wish to take.

I’ve had a few inquires about the NRA Basic Pistol Course, but no one has committed yet.  Please let me know if you are interested.  This is an 8 hour class and successful completion meets the requirements for Florida’s Non Resident CCW.  We can offer this class if enough people are interested (5 minimum).  The class will cost $100.  Training Material, handguns and ammo are provided.  The curriculum is set by the NRA and the following link will take you the course description:

As the dates get closer and the rosters are filled, I will email each participant the agenda and details on what to bring and expect.

Keep checking back.

Thanks,

I thought it would be a good idea to supply a little information about myself for those who don’t know me.  I put together a document that tells some of my history along with the training courses I’ve taken.  Please check out Craig’s Bio if you are interested.

Safe and effective gun handling starts with a great understanding and adherence to the 4-Rules.  The link below will take you to a copy of them.  Please take the time to commit them to memory, as they are the foundation that we use to build our skills upon.  We will start and end each event with a review of them.

There have been a lot of questions about holsters so, I put the following paper together to provide some food for thought as one thinks through a holster purchase.
